The Apostle: A Thriller (Hardcover) This is only my second Brad Thor book, Foreign Influence the other, and found it to be mostlyan exciting read. However, I found the sub plot of the detective going after the president to be atbest lame, at worst unnecessary. She was very annoying, and I found myself skipping ahead wheneverthe book turned to that part of the plot. Had it not been for that, I would have given it 4-5 stars for sure. The action that Mr Thor can put down on a page is riveting and look forward to more. 18 Fire

Since the kidnappers are demanding the release of one of Osama bin Laden’s lieutenants, Alden can’t be seen to be negotiating with them. Thus Harvath must carry out his tricky assignment with out official sanction. Meanwhile, Secret Service agent Elise Campbell, troubled by a conversation fragment she overheard indicating that Gallo has serious dirt on the president, launches an off-the-books inquiry into the pre-election death in a car accident of an attractive aide to Alden. The overseas rescue operation is more plausible than the stateside plot, but that’s not saying much. Copyright © Reed Business Information, a division of Reed Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
